a whole lot of shaking going on

The floor underneath me has been shaking on and off since this morning.  My coworker thinks that it is from some nearby MTR construction or pile driving in a neighboring site.  I work at the Hopewell Centre in Wanchai.  If anyone can tell me why the ground is shaking I would really appreciate it.  I am feeling more skittish about it than I probably should and would like to ease my mind.

My guess would be it's blasting or boring work for one of the drop shafts for the huge Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel project. I believe they are currently excavating a shaft on Kennedy Road not far from the Hopewell's back entrance. More details of the project here: http://www.dsd.gov.hk/others/HKWDT/eng/newsletter_issue7_Final_website_Eng_0630.pdf

Thank you Smoggie; this eases my mind greatly to know what might be happening. It is a rather uncomfortable feeling to be so high up and feeling my bearings move. Maybe I can comfort myself by calculating the loading of the building columns...
